I'm Ryan Finkle and I have been riding and racing for about three years now. I got started on a YZ85 and moved to a YZ250F after my first year. I recently got a YZ125 also. When I'm not riding I like to mess with my RC cars. Everything is a competition for me and my family. If there is no race we make a race out of something!
I live in Beckley West Virginia and have to travel at least an hour and a half to any track. I race pretty much every weekend somewhere. I go to Good Evening Raceway in Summersville WV, Tyler Mountain Raceway in Cross Lanes WV, Pyramid Valley near Morgantown. In the winter I go to Jackson OH to race arenacross. (Currently 2nd in the series!) Some trips to NC to practice at Center Road and to VA for Lake Sugartree too.
I went to Ponca City this year for the NMA Nationals. It was a great learning experience! A lot of fun to compete at that level after just getting started on a bike two and a half years before.
In the coming year I want to finish the indoor season at Henderson Arena Complex in first place! After that I am going to focus on conditioning and speed for the outdoor season. My goal is to win C class series at Tyler Mountain Raceway and the WV championship shootout at Good Evening Raceway. By the end of the season I want to move to B class and focus on Ponca and the Loretta Lynns for the next year.
This year everythins is coming together after all the hard work! I am getting holeshots and leading races... One of the most difficult times I had to ride through was in Ponca when my brother was being taken to the hospitol after breaking 5 bones in the race before mine. I was sitting on the gate when I found out the ambulance leaving was carrying him to the hospitol. I rode anyway and finished 23rd in my class. I guess if you want to make it to the pro level you have to ride no matter what!
