Personal History
My name is Rachel Karlgaard and I am 21 years old. I am from Post Falls Idaho.
I got my first motorcycle when I was 8 years old. Camping trips my family took was the only time I was able to ride. As I got older I got a few more bikes but I had more interest in cheerleading. I stopped riding for the most part through middle school and continued with cheerleading. The summer of my sophomore year I went to a local arenacross race to watch my friend race. I watched the first night of racing and at the end of the night I decided I should give it a shot the next day! So I went home and dug my xr100 out of the shed. Even though I had never ridden a track before and my family and friends thought I was crazy, I raced. I placed 4th and that was it...I was hooked.
After that race I sold my xr100 and bought a 2008 honda crf250r. I quit cheerleading and started riding every weekend. After a while racing at the track 30 minutes away turned into driving 8 hours to Washougal and eventually 14 hours to Hangtown.
As the years went by I got more serious about my racing and training. In January of 2012 I moved to Southern California for the winter to ride and train. That year I raced Loretta Lynn's Amateur National and I also got my WMX pro license. My first AMA Pro Motocross race was the 2012 Washougal National. I also raced the Moto-X 338 and Southwick Nationals.
Riding Goals
My goals for 2014 are to stay healthy and injury free so I am able to race the WMX Championship and Loretta Lynn's Amateur National.
