To me this looks great on the flat parts, but where it is vertical it isn't easy on the eye. Not sure it's great for stairs- I'd be constantly tripping over the steps! It's a nice idea using the floor as your feature- but if you like to change your decor often it might be an expensive choice in the long run. If you tend to keep the same or similar colours for years it's a good way to go.

Go to Menards get some mdf it's in the wood trim. Mdf (modified density fiber board). Measure and cut to height. Already painted to match. Probably cost less than 12 to 15 dollars and you will have plenty left of. They might even have some damaged at clearance price. Should have plenty of good stock.
