Personal History

Rode dirt bikes for fun several years as a teenager, but nothing competative.

I'm a 44 year old dirt bike enthusiest who loves competative competition.  I wear an eye patch for medical reasons and am nicknamed "Patch".  Most people are amazed I can even ride with an eye patch due to depth perception issues, yet I won the 2009 +30 Amateur Championship out of 49 riders in my 2nd year of competition.  It is not a disability to me.  As a result, I am very well known and respected by almost everyone in both racing organizations in which I compete.

Riding Goals

My long-term riding goal is to stay healthy and be competitive so I can continue to race and ride into my senior years.

Competitive Highlights

Started cross country racing at age 38 with Texas Cross Country Racing Association (www.tccra.org) and Texas Off Road Racing Organization (www.race-toro.org).

2008 TCCRA - Made the stage and finished 3rd out of 32 riders my first year in TCCRA in the O-35 Amatuer class.  It was a 14 race season.

2009 TCCRA - Made the stage and won the championship by finishing 1st out of 49 riders in my second year in TCCRA in the O-30 Amatuer class.  It was a 13 race season.  Due to the economy, the racing organization combined the 30-35 age class with the 35-40 age class, however due to the change, the class was larger and more competative than in my first year.

2009/2010 TORO Winter Series - Made the stage and finished 3rd out of 9 riders in the O-30 Intermediate class.  The winter series is much smaller due to the cold weather and the courses are generally more technical, therefore there is a much smaller number of riders.

Had high hopes for the 2010 season in the O-30 Intermediate class for TCCRA, however during practice prior to the season started, I had a season ending injury ending my 2010 season before it got started.

2012 TCCRA Series O-38 Intermediate class finished 3rd in the Series Championship out of 11 riders.

2012/2013 TORO Winter Series O-38 Intermediate class finished 3rd in the Series Championship out of 18 riders.

2013 TCCRA Series O-30 Intermediate class finished 4th in the Series Championship out of 13 riders.

2013/2014 TORO Winter Series O-38 Intermediate class finished 2nd in the Series Championship out of 18 riders.

2014 TCCRA O-30 Intermediate Class.  Finished the season 2nd, just 2 points out of first.  Disappointed I didn't win the Championship, however I felt strong and comfortable racing this year.
