My name is Josh Smith, I am 21 years old and I race the East coast Arenacross lites class. This year will be my third year racing pro. The last 2 years I have had a few broken bones and injuries that sidelined me for a little while. I also had 3 concussion in a month, the last being a grade 3 severe concussion that left me in the hospital. It took a long time to get over that and I would say that I am pretty close to being 100 percent. Concussion are hard to come back from because they carry such a high risk of further injury. Lately I have been training everyday, and I built a 5 acre supercross track on my property. It has helped my confidence a lot, especially in the whoops. This year I plan on making mains and getting in the top ten. I have been training and riding harder than ever so I am excited.
My goals for 2012 is to make some mains in Arenacross and from there get in to the top ten and so on. I know with the training comes confidence and from there the sky's the limit. I plan on being a smarter rider and getting better starts this year. Indoors it is all about starts. After Arenacross I will be mostly racing in Michigan and Kentucky, and also doing the Red Bud national. It is an awesome track.
My competitive highlights would be winning a state championship. I have won numerous local races as well. In 2008 I won a Ponca City regional in the 2 stroke non-pro class. After that I bumped to A class. I have also made some night shows in Arenacross.
